FCC Form 477 · Reported footprint

FCC Form 477 rankings:
records vs state count

Data updated June 2026

According to the Federal Communications Commission, 2,138 internet service providers filed Form 477 fixed-broadband deployment data as of June 2020. This ranking orders them by reported coverage, the number of census blocks where each ISP says it can serve. It measures footprint breadth, not speed, price, or subscribers, and Form 477 is self-reported. Read it as "who reports the widest reach," then open any provider for its state-by-state breakdown. The bar to make this list

Every one of the 2,138 FCC Form 477 filers, log-scale bucketed by reported footprint. The #100 cutoff to make this top-100 list (25,674 records) falls in the highlighted band.

How Concentrated Is This List?

These 100 providers are just 4.7% of the 2,138 companies with an FCC Form 477 filing, yet together they account for 91.4% of every deployment record reported nationwide. Narrow it further: the top 10 alone, 47,990,519 records, make up 79.1% of the national total. The other 2,038 providers not shown on this page split the remaining 8.6%.

How we calculate this

We sum total_records across the 10 and 100 providers shown on this page and divide by 60,659,227, the sum of total_records across all 2,138 providers in the FCC Form 477 dataset. Reported footprint is heavily concentrated because a handful of satellite and fixed-wireless carriers report availability in nearly every census block nationwide, while most providers file in one state or a small region.
